I don't turn on my computer for one day, and then there's a full-on dub thread going with a slew of mails :-) Y'all know I can't help myself, so here's my input - which may well overlap with what's been said already. DUBNOLOGY - Journeys into Outer Bass which originally came out as 2 double CD sets, are now released as a 4-pack - ie. both doubles in one neat package, covering Zion Train, Black Star Liner, Asian Dub Foundation, TG Underground, Meat Beat M., Dread Zone, Renegade Soundwave etc. etc. ALL these above names are worth checking out on their own full-lengths too. [Middle Earth Recordings]. Another series of comps which never gets mentioned much are the ZIP DOG "Club Meets Dub" - which I think are up to vol 5 at least by now. Great solid Li-on, Zi-on rootsy stuff infected with dance rhythms. All with a nice specimen of the cannabis leaf on the cover. On the Pork label the Solid Doctor is nice downtempo lazy dub. Please check out STRANGEBREW (Passports is their most recent release) - certainly one of my fave non-IDM releases of last year. Universal Egg Records have some great dub on their label - I've got their All The World In An Egg comp from 1996 -nice spliffy lazy stuff. Anything Adrian Sherwood has had a hand in - the On-U Sound label - Creation Rebel/New Age Steppers, etc. etc. Check 'em out - some can be a bit heavy handed and plodding. (imo) More Rockers - Dube Plate Selection. Twilight Circus Dub Sound Systems. Black Uhuru... the list is endless, really. So much excellent dub out there. Also try Lee "Scratch" Perry's TECHNOMAJIKAL prod. by Yello's Dieter Maier - guaranteed to put a smile on your face for the whole day.
