(313) Wild Kingdom Unopened Records Special

During last week's Wild Kingdom, I played a set of Orb tunes to
respectfully mark the passing of Andy Hughes, with Michael Jackson book
ends. The playlist resides at
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=33038 . Since last Sunday at
10PM last Sunday, night at 10PM, it's been "Freak Week" at KFJC, which
means roughly that the DJs can do whatever they want. This can mean an
orgy of guilty pleasures, a mini-special, tunes about stars, whatever.
The madness will continue until this Sunday night at 10 PM. I did a
Freak Week set yesterday featuring some classic soul and acid jazz. The
playlist is at http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=33078 . Tonight
is another Freak Week show for me, and I decided to nip back to my
storehouse of tunes and grab a big stack of unopened/unplayed records.
Some of these are white labels, some just stuff I haven't gotten to yet
(some of those for years). These will remain needle-virgin until the
show tonight, where I'll see what can be made of them. I will make one
concession to order -the show will start with a recent acquisition from
the defunct Death Records label of a 12" from Abe Duque, the last the
label did before they folded. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like...

Limited time archives for KFJC programming are now available at
http://www.kfjc.org/broadcast_archives/ . Send comments and suggestions
to xxxx@xxxx.xxx .

"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning,
12A-3A (8A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php .
Present and past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived at kfjc.org.
You can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just
Desserts" that was on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived
playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve
1999/2000, so you can see what what I'm up to these days is pretty much
consistent with what I was up to all along.

If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to
let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all
over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events.
If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC
promotions department at xxxxx@xxxx.xxx to arrange ticket giveaways
and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks
to those who have sent promo music so far.

Regards,

Richard Hester
