Didn't Beth also sing on William Orbit's "Water from a Vine Leaf"? I
personally think her two albums grate after repeated listens (perhaps b/c
they played them at work for a month over and over and over ...) but her
ep release between the two albums was very rewarding, mainly due to Terry
Callier.

And as far as TLS - their remix of Red Snapper's "Bogeyman" as Blue Jam
Cologne Mix is some of their best work yet.

Further notes: picked up _Mixed Emotional Features_ by Mocean Worker
yesterday (mainly due to the Dorn last name) and have been pleasantly
surprised. Some of the tracks are fill, but some surprises. The
highlight "Time of Danger" sounds like Art of Noise vs. Optical with a
dash of cinematic flair. The last track "Boba Fett" isn't quite what I
had in mind when I think of the character, but it is growing on me. One
track is named for Basie, Ellington, and Strayhorn ... showing those jazz
roots.
Bodes well for American junglists, but the lack of a central theme
renders this cd shuffle material. Pick it up if you see it used, but be
wary of paying full price. It has enough flair and surprise to cause a
few smiles - but not often enough. Too many tracks combine inventiveness
with tepid beats, and that's what pulls it down.
