I'm pretty sure the band you're talking about is Palais Schaumburg, which
existed in mid 80s.  Oswald was in it, plus our friend Thomas Fehlmann;
don't recall any Hiller involvement, but I'm scarcely the Palais expert.
In fact, despite sighting at least one full length LP, I'm familiar only
with a 7" (my introduction to the band due to its natty Albert Oehlen
watercolor sleeve) and a 45RPM 12".

The music is fairly removed from any of the Fehlmann or Oswald projects
that currently enjoy IDM cachet- it sort of typifies the arty new-wave
funk/punk blend whose promulgation in the mid 80s I personally hold the
Rough Trade label responsible for. The b-side of that 12" (sorry I can't
remember the name) is somewhat listenable due to its miasmatic electronic
qualities, but you can find superior listening pleasures in late 70s
Simple Minds records (when they were angling for a slice of the Factory
pie), so what the fuck?
