Hi synthoholics.

I thought it would be time for giving back to the internet, again.

So here comes the translation of the Regelwerk info on the german Doepfer
website.
This text is copyright by Doepfer.
It is a very sketchy translation. Please excuse any oddities.

REGELWERK
Midi Fader Box with 24 Faders

------------------------------------------------------------------------

REGELWERK is a professional tool for linking any midi data-type to 24
dedicated buttons and faders and for controlling any midi parameter with=
 them.
Furthermore it has functionality of a mixing desk including solo, mute,
master, total recall, overdub and hook-on which is ideal for=
 midi-automation.
It can also be used as a sound editor by controlling the individual
parameters of any sound expander in real-time.
REGELWERK can be used as input- and controller element for creating
rhythmical trigger patterns, arpegii, analog sequences, chord triggerings
and other poly-rhythmical structures. Completely new rhythm- and sequencing
applications can be generated by accessing every important parameter with
the faders and buttons. This opens up new perspectives for live
performsnces and improvizations.

REGELWERK key features:

=B7 You can assign/display independently and individually to every fader:
- Display/assignment of the current fader position via text in the LCD
display and via blinking frequency of the LED (the LED flashes in relation
to the deviation of parameter value/ fader position)
- Various modes for the actualisation of the faders: immediate (with
adjustable threshold), relative (to the current fader movement), catch
(fader has to run over the value, with threshold adjustment)
- Assignment and input via text. This can be any midi event or,
alternatively, any midi-string (also special sys-ex strings) with a maximum
length of 16 bytes. The position of the fader can be defined in the midi
event or midi string.
- Definition of minimum and maximum of the produced value (to limit the
controller range, for finetuning or inversion of the controller
characteristics).
- Processing, manipulation and control of individual faders via incoming
midi events that are equivalent to the fader-events. You can add the fader
value to the incoming midi velocity (also relatively). Update, hook-up,
overdub-mode for faders through the correspondent midi event. This
simplifies the communication/combination with other devices: sequencing,
automation of mixing desks, total recall, overdub on existing sequences,=
 etc.
- Faders can be grouped and assigned to a master-fader.

=B7 The follwing functions can be assigned to the faders and (with
limitations) to the buttons:
- Mute/demute/solo-functions with transmission of a freely definable
controller value of the correspondent fader event. The fader output is
locked when in mute/solo mode.
- Transmission of a midi event independently of the fader (can be Sys-ex
string) for the two states of a button (presse/release). Configuration of
the buttons as a simple midi-keyboard.

=B7 Auto-learn mode (fader or button learns the incoming midi string as
received on the midi-in)=20
=B7 Copy/move of individual fader/button parameters)
=B7 Store all internal data via sysex

=B7 Dedicated buttons for transport controls (sequencer, tape recorder, etc.=
)
via midi realtime codes (start, stop, cont.), adjustable tempo with
transmission of midi clock through midi out or control with midi machine
control through free configuration of the buttons, respectively (?)

=B7 Adjustable scanning rate for the faders (data reduction

=B7 128 presets. All settings for the 24 faders and 48 buttons, etc. can be
stored and restored
=B7 Transmission of any midi string on preset selection=20

=B7 Snapshot(scene) function: the current position of all faders and buttons
are scanned and all corresponding midi events are transmitted.
=B7 Snapshots can be stored and restored (max 128)=20

=B7 Furthermore REGELWERK posesses the sequencing functionality of SCHALTWER=
K
(with limitations)=20
- max. 8 tracks with a maximum of 16 Steps for every track
- Set/erase of any step with the click of a button during playback.
- Display of the active steps and the current step during playback
- 128 preset rhythmical patterns (tracks)
- adjustable per track (these parameters can be controlled in real-time by
the faders of REGELWERK): note number, note velocity, prescale, note
length, midi channel, run-mode, rhythmical pattern. Arpeggio or
Chord-trigger mode and the end step of a track (for odd measures) can be
adusted globally.

=B7 Internal/external synchronisation (via midi clock/sync socket)
=B7 2 separate midi-ins, 2 separate midi-outs, SYNC socket (Roland-style)

=B7 User interface similar to SCHALTWERK. Intuitive control. Every input can
be done in clear text, no cryptic formulars or numbers are needed.
=B7 Display of all fader-relevant data in real-time (fader monitor)

=B7 grey 19' 5-unit desktop case, can be installed in rack or used as
stand-alone unit
=B7 56 LEDs, 72 buttons, 24 faders (60 mm of travel), 2-line LC-display,
alpha-dial for data input
=B7 optically matches MAQ16/3, SCHALTWERK, A-100 and MS-404

=B7 All details may be changed without further=20
=B7 Release date ca. 3 - 4 quarter of '97 , depending on customers interest
(tell them that you NEED it!)
=B7 Price is not clear yet; ca. DM1000.-

This device sure sounds like big fun!
Hope they'll get it out fast.

All the best.
