it would be nice if a few people would open their dictionaries on "O" and
look up the word "opinion", decide if it is likely that everyone on the
list has the same one, and just shut up when someone disagrees with theirs.
the letters IMO, preferably IHMO could do with a bit more use. if you get a
post that expresses something you think is unfair, then posting your
contrary view is fine for balance or perspective, whatever you want to call
it. what we really don't then need is the subsequent

"no i'm right because you forgot..."
"no i'm right because you didn't understand..."
"no i'm right because because i've been listening to this music longer than
you/am a musician/my dad said so/have a caustic window record/ad
infinitum...."

william burroughs had an idea for a virus that killed people when the
formulated the thought "i am right". now that would really clean up IDM.

now this was more like it. great review, makes me want to buy the thing
straight away. anyone who disagrees and wants to warn me off is welcome to
do so privately, off-list so to speak. i've already wasted more bandwith
than i can stand.

- bit o' music content -
still looking for more stuff in the squarepusher, more beat changes per
second vein. have invested in but not yet received, alt frequencies 2
(haven't seen #1 anywhere is this a hard to get, worth looking for), and
spunk jazz. thought i cought an opinion that avantgardism 2 sucked
somewhat, despite/because of all the exlusive tracks? i liked the first one
although i wouldn't say it was a mindfuck. animals on wheels 12" got a
mention of being too chaotic? i think i might have to try that if i can
find it. been listening to the hab lp, but i'm a tad concerned by traces of
hippy leanings. i know its had a good showing on the list, one o' the
reasons i got it. anyhow i'm also awaiting the "knights who say dot" comp,
so i'm still hoping to be convinced.

- btw -
thought i'd poll some men here at work re: musical tastes, and found no-one
interested in idm either with or without vocals. mostly not bothered about
music at all, the sorry state of the patriots was of more concern. they're
lucky they don't support everton. someone did express a preference for
sheryl crow. as a result i'm suggesting all us males leave this list and
form sporting mail lists
