> What with all the talk as of late about Vadim and Jazz Fudge, you >might be interested to know that he's featured in the most recent DJ >Magazine (U.K.), the issue for Jan 31-Feb 13. Vadim has an interview, and the free CD that >comes with the mag has a 30-min mix of all Jazz Fudge/Ninja/K'boro stuff >by the man himself. A good introduction to minimal independent hip-hop for >those intrigued by the recent thread... Any stores in the US carry this magazine? ...or any UKers perhaps willing to pick one up for me? Hopefully someone will offer.... BTW--got Ruf Neck Piano _Repaired Piano_ today. Haven't heard the original, but some tracks appeared on _Sculptured and Broken Sound_. Reminded me of what would happen if John Cage started hanging out with the abstract hip hop community. Fairly hip hop in nature beats with some prepared piano parts overtop. _Repaired Piano_ is the remix disc featuring members of the Soup-Disc crew and DJ Vadim on mixes. Very interesting stuff. Got it from BentCrayon for a little under $20. The packaging though makes Raster music seem overdone. Simply a clear jewel case with a transparency about 1"x2" that has the tracklisting and credits on it. As for the person who asked about Soup-Disc sometime back. The label seems to be a Japanese version of Jazz Fudge, ie--home of some abstract hip hop. This release is the first I've gotten from the label, but I've read reviews of their compilations that have been very praise-filled, and they've been labeled as the definitive hip hop sound by DJ Vadim. If you do a websearch, they have a website you're bound to find. --- Peace Hugs and Unity Jason J. Tar W. W. J. D? (What would Jason Do?) http://pilot.msu.edu/user/tarjason
