Is that = the manual pump/plunger? Yes, it=E2=80=99s a manual pump with a strong spring. I just picked it = up off of my bench to try and get a model number off of it, but the = screen printing has completely worn off over the years. I think I saw you say that you have plenty of experience with solder = wick and desoldering pumps, so perhaps you=E2=80=99re already familiar = with what I=E2=80=99m talking about. Personally, I always found wick to = be way more hassle than it was worth, but it might be my aversion to = consumables. I=E2=80=99d prefer to throw away only the old solder and = not a mess of new wick with every project. Part of my success with the basic tools may be that I have a very tiny = soldering iron that probably couldn=E2=80=99t lift a trace if I tried. = It=E2=80=99s certainly less beefy than the desoldering iron. The Weller = pump has a teflon tip that is showing the decades of wear, but is still = intact enough to create a sufficient vacuum. Brian
