hello... after many years of farting around with digital synths, i'm about to go after the sound of sounds, real modular analogue... so i've been searching the net for info on midi/cv convertors, and several of them seem to imply that they can convert midi ccs to cv... i'm curious about what this means for me... my plan is to build a basic modular system to start with (mostly MOTM, configured so it can interact with a friend's doepfer), adding modules from various manufacturers as time goes on... if it *is* in fact possible to save control changes in my midi sequencer, i would *love* to do it... so how does this work in the converter? i understand that a cv out controls osc pitch and that the gate opens up the envelope... but where do the CCs go? do i need to get a converter with multiple physical outputs and tell each of them to listen for a specific controller number? or are the controller messages somehow carried on the normal CV cable? i'm trying to figure out which converter i need, and the way they handle midi CCs will be a big factor in which one i purchase. so if you've got suggestions about which ones do it best, i'd love to hear them. and is there a decent MIDI-->CV faq on the net anywhere? i've not been able to find one... thanks. bleep. out.
