One source of the Splash rhythm could be a compilation album of
interesting sounds that John Peel used to play on his Perfumed Garden
show in the early 70's. These became frequently requested by listeners
including such other favourites as The Wellington Boot Dance (as
performed by Diamond Miners from South Africa). All were sourced from
BBC sound archives.

This led to the release of an album of the favourites which also
included the Splash song (performed by Malaysian women who started
composing such pieces whilst doing their washing - doesn't quite work
the same down the launderette). I can't quite remember the name of the
LP on the BBC label as it is at home and I am at work but their are
quite a few tempting soundbites to sample on it.

I got my copy from a jumble sale a few years back.
