Mouse on Mars/Metro, Chicago 11/13:

the mom show sucked me right off this earth and catapulted me head first
onto another planet with a completely different atmosphere. of course it
was mars and a damn good alteration of my consciousness as far as i'm
concerned. with the necessary survival gear the pair of mice ventured out
with the electro-packed schnick schnack, which incited squeals of glee
from our corner of the sold-out, sardined-out metro. plenty of
blips-n-bleeps, tweaky knob twirling, and scurrying synth pads to keep us
space-travelers happy. pretty much consistently energetic electro with a
few interweavings of ambience and dnb hither and thither. mostly, though,
the mice were just having too much fun, bobbing to the soundscapes they
were creating from their machines, glancing at each other every now and
again with a "cool, eh" kind of wonderment in their eyes. i smiled for
forty minutes straight, which, unfortunately, was way too short for my
taste, but seemingly their alotted time to play before the
stereolads/lasses went on (my cue to skeedaddle for my dj gig). as my
friend caren and i bidded adieu to some other friends on our exit, we ran
into (so and so) from cargo records, a deplorable cretinous misanthrope
who wanted to step on my good buzz by dissing the mice with the age-old
"oh, well they were just playing tapes." his ass was just way too jaded
for this stuff and as caren said, "he just wanted to dislike what you
like because you liked it. i don't like him." sad, that. cuz he doesn't
even have the slightest clue of what he missed;)
