it's called 'honest reviewing'
i hate these people who live by the 'if you don't have anything nice to
say...' rule when writing reviews.
thats just for media types who want to kiss the asses of the
artists/labels involved with the release.
the purpose of reviews are to give the potential listener/purchaser an
idea of the music, not to show how much you like an artists previous
works.
i'd be the first to admit that photek's earlier works were excellent.
i'm just saying that i was expecting more of a progression on this one.
as you said yourself, this track(s) has 'sparse insturmentation' (though
it's more like no insturmentation).
i was just passing this fact on to the reader.

>if mr. parkes

>minimalistic
>melodies, it isn't just to piss off the c64 game music fans - it's

frankly, i couldn't give a shit if mr. parkes pisses on a dat and
released it.
if that's what he likes to do.
that doesn't mean i'm gonna enjoy it or reccomend it.
(though, as a listener and a fan, i'd be dissapointed)

>i'm sure he could, if he wanted,

so, dot=simplistic?
pick up the hab ep sometime.

>so please lay off mr parkes,

I never was laying on mr parkes.
i was simply saying that i'd enjoy it more had he expanded on those
tracks with some melodic backing.
we all know the rythym is what rupert's good at, but even the best beats
need some support.
tracks like 'the hidden camera' don't have 'simpilistic' dot-ish
melodies, or c64ish bleepy melodies, but they do have enough insturmental
backing to keep your attention for six minutes

>and i don't think anyone's interested in
>reviews of the new global communication single that go along the same

if the shoe fits...
