I believe the artist Zurich on that Leaf compilation are members of Slowdive doing electronic music. They were such an excellent band it saddens me that they are no longer. Mojave 3 just doesn't do it for me. The Reload and Bandulu remixes of Slowdive were pretty good. --Michael Stein <xxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxx.xxx> wrote: > > >I was wondering, as I'd never heard anything from them > >since their album 'Souvlaki', which is from 94, and > >wondered whether possibly the main songwriter ended up > >doing a solo electronic(ish) effort or what. > > Slowdive followed up SOUVLAKI and the "5" EP (to which you're likely > referring, it has the three extra tracks that were tacked on to the end of > the US version of SOUVLAKI) with their final album PYGMALION on Creation. > PYGMALION is a very sparse, minimal, yes, ambient album, but is not as > electronic as the "5" EP which Neil Halstead says was inspired by Orbital > and Aphex. > > The group broke up in 95 and reformed as Mojave 3 on 4AD, thus abadoning the > Slowdive experimental phase and pursuing a more traditional song-based > structure.
