Back onto the original thread.. I have had a xBase for 18mths or so. Before
buying, I had the usual dilemma of what to get: xBase or Airbase. Over the
last few months I have started really wanting the extra Airbase sounds.
Luckily, a friend of mine has lent me his Airbase for 4 weeks! I can now go
back to drum-sequencing in Cubase, using the Airbase and its extra sounds, and
see how productive this process is. Hopefully I will not decide to have both!

In 4 weeks time I can then decide what is more important: Cool x0x drum
sequencer or the extra sounds..

btw, I have Doepfer Drehbank (64 knob controller) and they have AirBase
programs up on the Jomox site, so, I still get plenty of knob-tastic control..

Last night I got setup and played for an hour or so. My first impressions
are 'I have got to have these extra sounds'!! In addition, the overlap sounds
also have extra parameters and functions. The HHs for example, have a LP and
HP filter in the Airbase, with resonance. Why couldn't the xBase have the
same sonic capabilities!!

I really can not describe how good the Jomox stuff sounds. I really REALLY
miss my 808 and sure, the Jomox is no replacement. However, the small (in my
opinion) amount you lose, the get back ten-fold. I would gladly have a 808
next to my Jomox (xbase or airbase) but I can not justify both and the Jomox
gives so much more value and scope.

This weekend I will setup a Cubase Drum Map and then remind myself what 'mouse
drum programming' was like. I hope I can live with it as I need these sounds!!
