More Sun Ra recommends: Its After the End of the World Nothing is Night of the Purple Moon Universe in Blue Super-Sonic Jazz I like them all but "Night of the Purple Moon" is really something else. Like a lot of the Saturn recordings, its really lo-fi but its pretty amazing. I must also second the recommendation of "Cosmic Tones for Mental Therapy." There are some really spaced out *and* grooving compositions on there. On a related note, I recently wrote a review of a Marshall Allen/Tyrone Hill/Luqman Ali Trio (Sun Ra Arkestra) show in Houston.
