<lance mode="on"> As far as I know, Paul frankland has four albums to his credit: 1. Woob (emit 1194) - the classic album everyone must own 2. Journeyman - Mama 6 (ntone 2) - very similar to the beaty barts on woob 3. Woob2 (emit 4495) - not as good as the first, but still really good 4. Journeyman - National Hijinx (ntone 24) - dope. same vein as the new neotropic. I Even reviewed it for Fix Magazine awhile back: <extreme lance mode="on"> Journeyman - National Hijinx - Ntone/Ninja Tune Journeyman's Paul Frankland has two distinct musical personalities. Paul records ambient for emit recordings under the name Woob, and explores his more beat-driven works as Journeyman. Paul's sound is deep, thick and atmospheric. No matter what genre he attempts, you can tell it's his by the surreal sound that permeates the album. His second Album, "National Hijinx", is filled with thick deep breaks and high-speed jungle, while still maintaining a Dali-esque quality. The title tracks, "National Hijinx" and "National Hijinx Part 2" start the album off with atmospheric breakbeats and thick swirling Chowderhead dub. Layered over the top are plenty of retro movie samples and generous usage of delay pedals. "Rusty Beats" and "Sloath" are faster jungle pieces, perfect for night driving. "Spy" is an ambient waltz, mysteriously laden with operatic vocals. The eerie and unsettling "50cc" and "Sonny" are reminiscent of the first Woob release, 1194. This is music that should be listened to at night, preferably in the dark. Just when you think Paul has gone too far out there, "Biscuits" brings you back with it's gentle acoustic guitars and laid back groove. </extreme lance mode> When I heard that em:t closed, I immeadeatly ordered another copy of woob so I could have all the releases in cardboard. I haven't found a good dicsography yet, but here's everything I have so far: 0094 - v/a 1194 - woob 2294 - qubism 3394 - v/a 0095 - gas 1195 - miasma 2295 - v/a 3395 - international peoples gang 4495 - woob2 0096 - lucid dreams 1196 - carl stone 2296 - v/a 3396 - undark 0097 - slim (this one is crap) 1197 - v/a 2297 - beatsystem 0098 - natural language </lance mode> does anyone have anything else (not counting the silly instinct comps)? -Daniel Bremmer -Daniel xxxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx ICQ# 16654223 ============================================================================== Peach Space Disco For Fish Tacos PO Box 1902 8-10pm Wednesdays, KUCI 88.9fm Huntington Beach, CA 92647 www.kuci.org/~dbremmer www.peachfuzz.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Coming Soon - Sterile: Orange County's Intelligent Electronic Monthly www.peachfuzz.net/sterile ============================================================================== get happy.
