From Ethan Sent Sun, Feb 28th 1999, 19:10
attached below is some information about an upcoming experimental music festival in North Carolina on May 14-15. The schedule of bands is at the bottom. --- http://www.transmit.org >>>As some may have noticed, we are well underway with Trans oo2 planning. I wanted to make the first formal announcement regarding the festival to let folks know what is going on, and also to inform local experimental film and and video makers that we are soliciting work for screenings until the 15th of April. We are particularly interested in work that develops & explores the inter-relationships between sound and image. We will accept screening copies of the work to be shown in the formats of 8mm, Super8, 16mm, & VHS. There is no length requirement or limit. There is no submission fee. Please send a VHS copy of your work with a SASE to: Trans002 Film/Video 112 East Lynch Street Durham, NC 27701-1926 Tapes submitted without a SASE can not be returned. Deadline for submissions is April 15, 1999. There are still a few slots remaining for anyone interested in film/video/other visual installations. Parameters for these type of projects may be fairly loose - these will likely occur at the Carrboro Arts Center and other area [non-traditional] locations. Please contact me directly for more information regarding these projects and opportunities. [xxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.xxx] Transmissions is expanding considerably this year - we are very excited about exploring the dynamics of local space and spaces, and as mentioned above, are putting together a series of installations [primarily audio] to take place in local businesses, restaurants, coffeshops, and other outdoor and indoor public spaces. This is, in part, an effort to involve more and different people and spaces, but we are also endeavoring to provide opportunity for a sort of examination and differentiated apprehension of local sonorial space[s]. Festival Dates: Friday 14 MAY and SATURDAY 15 MAY 1999 The majority of sound performances will occur at CAT'S CRADLE. Performance slots are BOOKED, though a few confirmation announcements are still pending. The schedule is tentative and subject to change, but should remain very close to what is listed below.
