ultramarine are way cool. i've always thought of them as the press-awkward
twin bros. of the orb (same vintage, similar mellow vibes, concept albums)
who love the sh101 like alex loves his sampler.

if you like "user's guide", you'll probably like "bel air" but be prepared
for vocals (which i find peculiar and charming). next, try and find "every
man and woman is a star" which finds them cozying up to the sampler a bit
more and vocals less. "united kingdoms" is also good, but my least favorite
of the mentioned as i find it a bit too folkfunk (can i get a new genre
author credit?) soft machine's robert wyatt contributes much of the vocals
to that one. everything previous to "users guide" was on either blanco y
negro or brainiak (which may be a b y n sublabel).

there's another album but i haven't heard it. most of the singles are worth
picking up, check the remixers. my favorite's "nightfall in sweetleaf"
featuring remixes from spooky, coco steel and lovebomb and sweet exorcist.
the "barefoot ep" has got a dope carl craig mix too.

i love my dog but she snores.
