I'm sure that someone has, by now, answered the question(s) regarding Mira Calix music. Chantel Passamonte aka Mire Calix was raised in Durban, South Africa, and has recently recorded her new album for Warp call 'One On One' to be released in March 2000. >From a brief listen, there are some cool electronic chunks as well as atmospheric elements thread deep inside these tunes. 'One On One' slips into the darker side of ambient/minimalism, incorporating watery sounds with sheets of digital noise and buried lyrics. Experimentally dark and absorbing with a touch of drenching instrumental workouts. Some press details read: "..reflecting her love of strung out, avant garde guitar blazers like Spaceman 3 and My Bloody Valentine as much as any techno influence. Richly steeped in her own, digitally tampered- with vocals.." Now you have a ~sense~ of Mira's sound approach.. Here is the tracklisting for 'One On One' that may take a few listens to properly digest: . ms. meteo (poolside mix) . skin with me . nostalgia . sparrow . three teas please . schmyk . ithanga . routine (the dancing bear) . the more you do the more you do . isabella . daydreaming at night . simple friends . battery beach . upiyano . afrique du mai . slip sliding Check out Warp Records for more information on this title as well as other news (if you haven't already..) www.warprecords.com Pietro. ___________________________________________ p i e t r o d a s a c c o a u d i o - n i m b u s c j a m 91.5 fm saturdays from midnight - 2am EST 9745 lynngrove cr, windsor, ontario, n8r 1b8, canada g r o o v e s m a g a z i n e www.groovesmag.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: xxx-xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx For additional commands, e-mail: xxx-xxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx
