For those who hadn't heard, there've been some changes in Tortoise tour which was supposed to open last night in Bloomington. They had to cancel the first five dates of the tour (Bloomington, Detroit, 2 nights in Toronto, and Montreal) due to the guitarist contracting an eye infection in Europe. The tour now starts next Tuesday, the 5th in Providence. However, it also appears that Oval will no longer be appearing on the first half of the tour as originally planned. Just saw this on the Sonicnet music news site: "German electronic act Oval (Markus Popp) was scheduled to make his American performance debut at the Bloomington, Ind., show on April 30, although current plans call for him to tour solo from May 25 to June 2 and attempt to hook up with Tortoise at the end of their tour, a June 13-14 pair of dates at Chicago's Metro. Isotope 217, a side project featuring Parker (Torotise guitarist), will open all the other dates on the tour." Finally, it looks like the cancelled dates are being rescheduled at the end of the tour, with a Toronto date announced for June 17th. It'll likely be jammed, too, since it's at the same venue and they're honouring tickets from *both* originally scheduled shows on a single night. Ouch. At least we're still supposed to be getting Oval. Greg
