Sorry for the cross post. Just wanted to let you know of a little scene happening out in Long Beach, California. I run a weekly ambient / idm soundscape called Dervish, every Thursday, 7 pm to midnight, Portfolio Coffeehouse, 2300 E. 4th St. (at Junipero), Long Beach, 562-434-2486. (http://www.csulb.edu/~gbach) This Thursday, September 9, Alex of Bassland will be performing a live set, with Ambient Guru. The following Thursday, September 16, I'm proud to announce a special DJ set by Ryan Lum of Love Spirals Downward (http://www.lovespirals.com), with Chowderhead and yours truly. If anyone on the idm or ambient lists is interested in performing or spinning at Dervish, please e-mail me offlist. I can't pay much (it's a coffeehouse, after all), but it's a nice space, I have a decent sound system (Cerwin Vega 15" cabinets and a Crown amp, etc.), and the crowd is polite and appreciative. Plus, there are some idm and ambient friendly record stores in town that you could hook up with, either for stocking your music or in-store appearances. Thanks G.
