An SSD is a luxury. I started recording multitrack in 2004 with a = PowerBook and old-fashioned spinning hard drives - usually an external = FireWire 800 drive with at least 50 MB/sec of bandwidth, up to 100 = MB/sec. Nothing wrong with an SSD, of course, I=E2=80=99m just pointing = out that you don=E2=80=99t need it for audio recording, even with lots = of tracks. You=E2=80=99re right about 3d upgrade being a long time coming. Then = again, I bought my first interface from them 10 years ago, and it=E2=80=99= s still going strong. I don=E2=80=99t mind waiting for them to create = something that will last another 10 years. By the way, you really only = need 3d if you want more than 50 channels, or if you don=E2=80=99t have = a Mac with some kind of FireWire capability - my post-FireWire laptops = work fine with a Thunderbolt-to-FireWire adaptor when using the MIO = interfaces.
