My experience with Pole is limited but I think Pan Sonic are on a different
level altogether. Kulma, one of my favorite discs of recent years, is a
maelstrom of clicking, contorted rhythms and high-frequency noise and
distortion. Noise is a very important element of their sound, so much so
that it always reminds me of old school "industrial" (Throbbing Gristle,
Whitehouse). Please seek out the live MP3 of the Cleveland show. Sonic
terrorism, pure and simple.
