Be careful what you're calling an odd time signature, especially with
Ae. I've noticed that even though a lot of their music seems like it's
odd, it's not. If you think about what's going on the time signature
is in something simple like 3/4 or 4/4, but they have loops running on
top that are not even multiples of the time signature, so you'll get a
nice polyrhythmic thing going with a 5.5 beat loop overtop of 3.

One group that used to do nice stuff with time signatures was The
Young Gods. They had a few tracks in 7/4 which was fun. I think you
need to listen to Bartok if you really want to get crazy, but I'm
getting out of my league at this point.

one other thing, re: mpgs

How can anyone in the world suggest that mpegs are the next thing in
audio when in this very group you have people arguing that 24bit/96kHz
is essential for properly recreating music? I don't have an overly
sensitive ear like some, but I can tell the difference between an
original 16bit/44kHz recording and the mpeg conversion. I think mpegs
are great for loading up a hard drive in a car, but in a controlled
(semi) critical listening environment, they sure wouldn't be my first
choice.
