I don't want to start a wild thread but I think some quick comments are appropriate. I agree that the RIAA's new actions are reprehensible (in fact I posted that original message about this scam) but I also dread the fact that Negativland have taking the flag. Once again, a legitimate issue will be turned into a soap box and I wouldn't be surprised if they stuckit all on a CD or book (if they could find someone to press it) and sell it back to us as "collage." I think they are promoting a very subjective conception of copyright based on their desire to be "artistes" and ignoring everything that doesn't fit into their fairy tale world. I like their releases but they are so precious. Thats my opinion. Now, I will duck :-) At 08:49 PM 8/18/98 -0700, sfwd productions wrote: > >Straight up, sorry to all those how don't care... know this is a long one >and i apologize for it... but i think that it does have relevance to the >music we discuss here and there was a bit of talk about it a week or >two ago, so thought i might follow up on it... > >Negativland-a-go-go -------------------------------- Rodney Perkins (mailto:xxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx) Pentaradial Press http://www.pentaradial.com
