Eeeeeeooooowwhhhhh! My legs are still all wobbly and my ears are still ringin! da Ninjas nuked da house down 333 last night, totally frizzzled us! At last the Ninjas nights are feelin like ol times again, must be cos all the studes are back in town ... the place was totally rammed, whereas at the last one, it was only half full but thank god for Shut Up & Dance that night, they just blew the place apart, playin early rave, electro/breakbeat ... had a right little rave going down in the basement, aciiiiiiieeeed! Coldcut were playing live but Ohhhhhhh no, why ohhh why do they keep on havin to have that rampant feministie poet woman reciting her "all men are bastards" poetic rants at us all night, totally ruining their set for me? She did the same at the NInjas Castle party down Stokie and we all scarpered pretty pronto then too! Anyways, we went upstairs for a little chill with The Pork REcordings lot, The Bullitnuts playing the top room, well chilled, funky jazzzy vibes ... then into the little cinema for some popcorn and Kung Fu movies, and twas wicked, cos they have propper ol cinema seats in there, with the little flip out tables on the back of them for your drinks and popcorn, perfect little skinnin up tables, DECENT! Then, we were ready for some seeeerious action and skipped downstairs for some DJ Food and Mr Scruff, and ohhhh man, they were da bizness, no mistakin! A totally exhilerating mix of soundz in true Ninja styleee, hardcore hip-hop, electro, breakbeat, funk (they played this blindin electro version of 'Pull Up to the Bumper Baby'), Troublefunk, James Brown's 'Givin up Food for Funk', drum'n'bass ... twas soooo cool to hear some Go Go records again, yehhhhhhh! and then, as always happens, where all the most 'deep in' dancers seem to loop in together in a little hardcore circle, I suddenly recognised this lad and his mates who were at Squarepusher on Monday, cos they were they were the only other posse who were going as mental as us lot that night, all dancin together right at the front ... and he was grinnin at me as if he recognised us lot tooo, so I said 'ohh you lot were at Squarepusher on Monday weren't you" and it was soooo wicked cos he was still as buzzzin as me bout the night, sayin 'Yehhhhhh, was he Out there or Wot?" leapin up in the air at the memory of it! It was SUCH a blisterin night, hope we don't have to wait tooo long till Tom comes back to London again! When I told him what Adam told me, that Squarepusher's doing an Acid set up in Manchester on Saturday, we were all ready to pile in da cars, burn some rubber and head oooop North as fast as our ol bangers would take us! My friends boyfriend Ja Tin (he plays Tablas with 'Outcaste' and is well into his drum'n'bass), has just come back from LA and was tellin us all these stories about it last night ... and he was tellin us that he caught Fabio & Groove there, but he said it was dead funny cos errrr, how to say this gently? cos I'm a nice polite English girl, well ... erm, lets just say he said the LAers all danced in a VERRRRRY different styleee from da London one! and that all the blokes were wearing shorts and towelling socks! tee hee! :) aless
