thought this was amusing: on this weeks mail-out from skinny.com (the people behind captivated.com, check 'em out), there's a mention of diskono's 'destroy rare records' thing: MUSIC NEWZ ___________________________________ SCOTTISH LABEL TO DESTROY RARE VINYL Diskono, a mysterious experimental electronic music label and collective, has been known in the past for its creative ways of making a point. Some of their releases have been sent out with handwritten postcards as a statement against impersonalization in the record business. A press release for an event they put together declared that "repetitive beats will be banned and people will be forced to discuss art/philosophy or be thrown out... DJs will be booked, their records will be taken away to be replaced with records of our own choosing... records produced before 1997 will not be allowed, the past is DEAD and cannot talk back." Their next action has been announced for some time in 99: they will be smashing 100 of the rarest techno records of all time as a public statement about the vinyl fetishism that is going around these days. I know I'll be biting my nails when some classic Aphex Twin goes under the hammer... check their website for clues. ----> http://website.lineone.net/~diskono/ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
