well, you can do one thing to give them an abrasive and "banging" edge.. use
a flanger with a very narrow sweep depth/range and a narrow rate/sweep
frequency ex: .1Hz and adjust the feedback levels depending on how much
"bang" you want. you can do this without a flange sweep (by setting the rate
at 0) but it sounds better with a small sweep.
