I haven't played with one for a long time. The schematic indicates 
something similar too the Solina style idea with three BBDs. But you can 
turn off the fast LFO so the BBDs are only modulated with the slow LFO - 
much like the Logan String Melody II's chorale setting.

It does the LFOs different by using two pairs, one for fast and one for 
slow, of three LFOs with hard sync to keep their phase spread apart at 
120 degrees.

Solina style again. This time using two fixed LFOs, some divide down 
logice and some analogue filtering to create the necessary three phase 
sinewave modulation waveforms.

Ultimately it's about modulation depths. The deeper and faster the 
modulation the stronger the effect.

The polysix has some kicking VCOs though and they'll always sound richer 
than the Opus's divide down circuits. Not always what you want with a 
stringer though and divide down can sound good through distortion too.
