Got enough nice records at the w/end that meant I couldn't afford the Gescom MiniDisc. Oh well - next week. Gescom : - (Skam) Pretty damn good - one track was on the Ae radio promo CD and is excellent bassy Ae-hop style. The one before it is the highlight - smooth chords with a weirded out basson like noise. The flip gets a bit more hectic but still chunky, slightly _Anvil Vapre_ sounding. Nice. MAS 2008 : _Mad In Germany_ (Twilight 76) Completely boss melodious (but hard and completely spinnable in a club) electro - three tracks on clear yellow vinyl. Extremely clean NSC cut as well. Lots of bass but extremely thoughtful at the same time with a clean Kraftwerk sound and feel to it. Buy it if you see it. A Credible Eye Witness : - (A Credible Eye Witness) More electro, this time on a more IDM tip. Straight 808 hi-hat/snare rhythms with the bassdrum doing all the work, underneath the smoothest analogue melodic riffs and reverb soaked dark strings. No idea who this is but is extremely good. Four tracks. Lory D : Unfinished Trax (Elektronik Outboarding Cast) Strange 12" in a silver plastic sleeve with white labels from Italy. Two analogue techno cuts on one side which are okay but nothing special. Its the three electro tracks on the flip that are worth the money. Very individual featuring what sounds like bending, retriggered computer game samples and all over clean, deep electro beats. This is the first on this label - I'm looking out for the rest. Bubbahs Tum : _Dirty Great Mable_ (Ill) The Boards of Canada mix is great, funky, clever head-nodding stuff. The Paddington Breaks mix is the surprise - a noisy electro jam that just bangs in from the outset. The other mixes from Si Begg and someone else didn't really do much for me. Michael Fakesch : _Demon 1_ (Musik aus Strom) Re-pressing I think - I'm not a huge Fakesch fan but this is probably the best I've heard from him. The Boards of Canada remix is absolutely beautiful - mournful, emotional chords slowly morphing into really dark, disturbing bass drones. Vendor Refill : _Evil Weevil_ (Nature) More IDM in the style of Ae-esq beats and rhythmic tweaking. Quite good in parts - more lo-fi and gritty than say the Schematic take on the Ae sound but nothing groundbreaking. One track was done with Disjecta FYI. Also boosted my 1080 Snowboarding halfpipe score by double. || [CiM] || xxx_@xxxxxxx.xxx || - ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
