I also know that i had a really difficult time "breaking in" to this scene, though i don't think that's necessarily a "woman thing"...guess i'm just kind of thinking aloud here. dunno...any other thoughts? >> I think you covered most, but I seem to have noticed that lots of guys in the "IDM" scene kind of have this arrogant mentally about the music being so "intelligent" that most girls wouldn't understand it and that they only want to listen to dj keoki or at best orbital. I notic ethis a lot at local record stores when girls go look at the "experimental" or "aphex twin" section (there is a store in san diego which says that everything on warp or rephlex is an aphex twin side project, I kid you not.), the guys that work there are like oh now, you want this armand van helden record and they try to sell them some mix cd as if being a girl instantly turned you into a candy raver without a brain. It's like there was pressure to be a dj hanger on or something. And even when I use to go at raves everytime a girl would come up to me I would discount them as some kind of candy raver because that is what I experienced 99/100 and I must admit to getting kind of prejudiced. it must be hard is all I can say:( hopefully this will change as the music does. thinking out loud again:P -kid606
