A couple of other quick tips as well as doing bass traps. If you have parallel surfaces try to break them up - you will see people usi= ng cloud absorbers for this. This is to avoid flutter echoes and help absorb= reverb. You can have a hard wood surface with holes in it if you like a mor= e live sound, but angled so as not to reflect back to another parallel surfa= ce. If you have the space, soft furnishings are also useful (dense couches or ch= airs) as they absorb LF and HF too and reduce room modes. Thick carpet or rugs on the floor helps tame excess HF reverb. Cushions and a= nything soft helps break up and absorb a variety of frequencies, evening out= the room. I=E2=80=99ve heard really well treated world class live recording rooms and n= ot a single surface reflects back at another. They sound almost unnaturally s= mooth to the ear, but record very well because they are so even in frequency= response.
