It seems like the DSS-1 was a victim of the time it came out in.  In
1986, most keyboardists were not getting samplers so they could do
synthesis, so it probably just seemed like an awkward and weird machine.
Also, the techology for what it was trying to do was barely possible at
that price point in 1986.

I think something like a DSS-1 now would be much easier to do and would
sell like hotcakes if you did it right, and you could go far beyond the
original's architecture without even trying hard today.

I looked more at the Syntaur site, and it sounds interesting though.
Once I'm up and running on my Mirage, I think I may still get the full
Sound Process disk set.  The Mirage may end up being very useful --
after all, technically the Minimoog has a limited voice engine, too...
