>Gardner mentioned that he was friends with Coldcut, which made sense to >me...with both acts being at the forefront of the media slicing and dicing >scene. He said he might "jam" with Coldcut during their performance...I > >Anyway, I didn't see him up there on stage with Coldcut, so I guess the >CCTV/EBN megajam didn't go down. Regardless, it was a fine evening...I >haven't even mentioned the stunning live performance by Bang On A Can, which >seemed to puzzle a good amount of the audience (saw a few with hands >covering >their ears). Before Bang On A Can began, they acknowledged Mr. Reich >himself, who waved to the crowd from up in the "reserved only" area. I >didn't see him jacking his body on the dancefloor or anything, however. > >And oh yeah...no sign of Hulk Hogan protesting outside the venue (see >related >posts from about one month ago). > >- Fred Church > xxxxxxxxxx@xxx.xxx > Glad you enjoyed the show..I am not sure you are aware or not, but the way Coldcut perform is that jon plays DJamm, a music remixing software they invented to remix and play one level of audio ive, while Matt plays Vjamm, the video mixing software...so video clips aren't "timed " to match beats, they are actually being played, scratched and included as another audio as well as video layer. Very much like EBN you are right..it's funny, I was hangin with Gardner and we were talking about each act had influnced each other over the years...Gardner credits the original Beats and pieces with being his inspiration for so of his visual art, and colcut credit Gardiner as inspiring them on the video tip.. >wondered what he would "play" during this jam...video cut-and-paste >software? so to answer that question, yup, video sequencing software..join in with matt who was already plying that..It's funny, because Matt says that he finds he has to let King of the swingers fall out of synch so that the audionce actually catches on that they are actually remixing the video and audio portions of the video in live..no two shows are alike... anyhow, glad you came and sorry bout the sound...the house sound guys weren't exatly helpful or....well to be polite.."experienced" with music generated by computers (the whole thing came off of a mic feed not a line feed)
