Impulse Tracker (considered the leader of the pack) supports MIDI on every
card from a SB16 on up the foodchain...either to use your computer as a
sampler or a sequencer.  it even has a biggety-ass MIDI macro section so
you can preprogram a lot of effects combinations.  Though there are
tracking apps for the Mac, and the whole concept was originated on an
Amiga, the PC is the most supported tracking computer right now...

But I think the great thing about IT is you really don't need any external
gear or modules if you know enough about the software tricks it can do.
