well, why the hell do you need reviews when you can listen to them
yourself!!!??
and why the hell are you whining about people whining about a-musik and
mego?!!

never the less, here's a quick review of the last mego disc i bought.
it's not exactly new, but whatever...

unlike a lot of people on this list, when posting stupid rants and petty
arguments.(if you're going to at all), like the one i'm about to go off
on, try to offset it with something that is of BENIFIT to the list. Try
it, and see how much respect you gain from other list members. People
like Lance McGannon, Brock Suter, Brap, and, formerly, xx@xxx are all
perfect examples of focusing on FACTS, DATA and USEFUL OPINIONS in thier
messages, as opposed to petty arguments, and mad props to them.
unfortunetly they are in a minority of the list, as too many others are
too concerned with boosting their own 'online ego' or something.
anyway, i better stop before i end up unsubbing ;-), so on to the
review..

Farmers Manuel 12"(Mego 017)
The manuel comes through once again and, as always it is a
strange one, indeed. Ten untitled tracks, eight of which are on the flip
side. Lock Grooves?- you bet! Just about every track on the B side ends
with one! The music might appeal to fans of Autechre. Unlike Sean and
Rob,however, Farmers Manuel put less emphasis on the melodic aspect and
more on the abstract rhythms and samples. My personal favorite, track
B6, starts off with an ae-esque beat before it slowly dissolves into
complete static. Also present are various oddities such as tribal beats
(B7), 50's (sl)easy listening stuff (B4), looped piano solos with strange
squelches on top (B8), Minimal fucked-up quasi-ambient pieces (B2), and
4/4 beats over a shifting windy 'melody' (A2). Another strong release
from Mego and highly recomended.

also, for those who are too cheap to buy a disc, even with a review and
ra samples, there's falsch, the mego sublabel who's releases are
available (in they're entirety) only via real audio. poke around at the
mego xxxx@xxxx://www.Austria.EU.net/frank/mego/

also, any opinions on any of those mego 'specialty' discs i saw in pj's
mailout a couple weeks ago? there were like a dozen of them.
the irony of it all... we finally get a mego discussion on after gil
leaves ;-)
