That's a good idea. As already mentioned most of the pcb will be the level
shifter's/buffers at the in/outputs and the LED displays.

I think instead of the 1/2 A-165, you might use the function that
provides Start-Trigger and Stop-Trigger on separate sockets. Both the
A-154/A-155 and the A-157 are based on these separated triggers.
On the other hand no patch comes to my mind, where I use the on-trigger
and off-trigger on the same line. I always have to split them up like
described.
