The reason Tricky got so pissed was that some bigwig at his label, when asked why some (black) rapper on Polygram or whatever label wasn't being reprimanded or fired for some crime he committed, said something to the effect of "If we made it a policy to fire or hire based on criminal record, 90% of the minorities in America would be unemployed." Understandably, that pissed Tricky off, and he revamped one of his songs to aim it more directly at Polygram. Which isn't to say he's not crazy in other ways (in the live show i saw, he did the best set I've ever seen set, then spent 1.5 hours ranting aimlessly). But damn if he doesn't make some great music... I've heard that his random singles and side projects since his last album have been rather self-indulgent turds in which he only talks about himself, but that none of that kind of stuff is showing up on Angels With Dirty Faces.
