all the kids are doing it! as a kid, casey kasem (sp?) top 40 stuff, then motley crue, metallica, u2, and a bunch of other stuff. lots of bad stuff. loved it at the time tho, so who cares? high school introduced pink floyd, ended up picking up all their stuff on tape (and excellent used vinyls of dark side and the wall). got a cd player in '91. "alternative" music. matthew sweet, smashing pumpkins, fugazi (going to see them *finally* on saturday!!!), beasties, etc... early '95: got into pwei just cause i thought they had a cool name. picked up two fingers my friends (remix album), on which there was an orb mix and lots of other electronic/instrumental mixes. convinced me to buy orbvs terrarvm. loved it. read a review for i care... in rolling stone. bought it on the off chance that i might like it. loved it. picked up some more stuff along the way (more orb, aphex, whatever i could find cheap, used, or FS over the internet). january '96 shopping with xmas $$ picked up Ai2, again, on a whim. felt like i should have more stuff w/o words. loved the speedy j, link, beaumont, seefeel tracks. sought out more stuff. autechre, black dog, polygon window, whatever i could find on tvt. kept seeking out more stuff. may/june '97 got a full time job. money for CDs!!! now i have about half of my 400 or so discs are idm or relateds. small in comparison to some, but they make me so happy. if only i could get a higher paying job... and a turntable. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
