I have a decent idea of what I know I want to hear when I go to the shops by looking at the week's new releases. Admittedly, I am usually a little more excited about finding great drum n bass. But I do go to almost all of the other genres (with obvious exceptions like trance and hardcore) and dig through the new releases. Often I am surprised of what i buy the most of. In the past, I was kind of prejudice of house...but sometimes i buy a decent amount of it. I think most of it falls into a tech-house subgenre, but not all of it. Sometime I buy alot of techno, and I am pretty consistent with getting a decent amount of IDM. I basically try to hear a good variety and buy the best of what I liked. > just got pole 1 and 2 and while they are very nice > records and pleasant to listen to (i am able to do > homework while listening, able to focus less closely > on the music) and also are not really like anything > i have heard before (they do new things i guess), i > would never trade in my mike&rich for one, or > slagboom. they are very good, but maybe just not so > 'special' to me-- just another bit of abstract music > of today. dont know how to explain it, and dont take > offense. I might be a little more into POLE because i was lucky enough to see him on the Chain Reaction tour and get a chance to see him in a more private show at KUCI on "Space Disco For Fish Tacos". He ranks pretty high up there for me right now. The CR show was definitely in the top 2 best "live" shows of this year for me. >> Perhaps, you dislike alot of other style of >> electronic music, so you just stay close to IDM, I >> don't know. > > watch out for that, never say that. i doubt many > listen to solely idm, and saying this is sounding > pretentious I would hope that this isn't the case!! It would be far more interesting to have people bringing alot of variety of perspectives, tastes, and influences to the list. And I think there are some people on this that do! And others that don't. It could be they are newer to this kind of music, only buy what is hyped on the list or many number of things. And that's fine everyone starts from different places and times. I did think that it was a little ridiculous that some people seemed actually offended that I didn't like what they liked. There were a few stupid responses, some that were good, etc. etc. I would personally prefer to hear varied opinions on stuff. Instead of everyone patting themselves on the back for all liking the same thing. I'm not afraid to speak against something if i believe in what i say, even if my opinion might be a minority opinion. And if I do sound pretentious, I certainly don't fucking care. Why should I care if those are my opinions (un-sugarcoated)? Some people will agree, some won't. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com
