Now that the "clean up idm" campaign has settled a bit, I'll go ahead and
ask this. :)
I'm teaching a seminar next term on technology and popular music, and I
want to do a unit on jungle/d'n'b. The trouble is, I only got into this
stuff within the last year and I don't have a representative sampling in
my collection to use. I *already* have:
Plug - D'n'B for Papa (both the blue planet and nothing releases, so I've
got Plug 1,2 and 3 also)
Squarepusher - Feed Me Weird Things, Hard Normal Daddy, Big loada
Cujo - Adventures in Foam (must order Bricolage NOW!! :) )
mu-ziq - Urmur Bile 1+2, Lunatic Harness
oh yeah, and the Platinum Breakz and Logical Progression comps, which
aren't nearly as interesting, but still useful for class.
So, if you want to help me push this music on an unsuspecting room full
of first-years, I'd be overjoyed if you'd email 5 recommends to me,
preferably available on CD and not TOO hard to track down. I hate to put
that restriction on it, but I want to get the library to order this
stuff (hey, if they can have "This is techno vol. whatever-the-crap,"
they can stand to have some Vibert lying about). PRIVATE EMAILS please,
don't want to bore the list.
I do know I should put Wagon Christ on order, vinyl or not. How hard will
it be to get Hangable Autobulb stuff?
Thanks a million-- J
PS I'm even less familiar with rap/hip-hop, so same question. Any thoughts
there?
PPS Coldcut:"Let us play" kicks ass...
