>hmmm but you cant really describe Hip Hop as underground really,,,, >maybe Tower >records is a lot better in the US... it sux in the UK. i don't think that's really the point. i'd say this remark: >> > > > ...soon to be nationally distributed. This is the true >> > > > underground... is what triggered this whole thing. heh.. "today's deepest, most true-to-the-scene underground sound can be your's for only 9.95 at a food mart near you." oh boy.. it reminds me of this guy that was on wkdu the other night, "the great deity dah." his thing was taking hip-hop back to its roots, and how hip-hop these days in the US is all about money and has nothnig to do with what people are saying or doing anymore. he was also about appearing very educated and well-read and used lots of unnecessarily big words (correctly though). but anyway, he went into this 10-minute freestyle about being true to yourself and true to the scene and true to this and that, and then right in the middle he started talking about where to get his new record and who produced it and how to contact him (via email, voice mail, web) and his production group and parties they're doing and where they're going to be and how much money they cost and he goes "let me rePEAT" and he repeats all that stuff again (still freestyling mind you, it was really funny and stupid). plus, they played an old track of his and a track from the new record and he broke in on the mic over BOTH and repeated the same information about where to get his stuff and all the names that appear on it and blah blah blah.. it's just funny when people get things mixed up. but it's funny in a sad way. -eric wasn't writing from an i-am-underground persepctive btw, cause i'm not. :) --- eric sherman xxxxx@xxxxxxxx.xxx doubtful productions www.doubtful.com wkdu 91.7fm philadelphia transmitting ambient/idm thursdays midnight-6am
