>I just picked up a vinyl copy of "Eclectronicks" by JJ Perrey. What's the >story on this? >I have the classic " In Sound from Way out" LP but this came as a >suprise...and it's pretty >cool to boot though incredibly *silly*. Anyone? Is this new material? >Should'nt he be about 150 years old by now? Actually he's around 70! 'Eclektronics' is new [!], co-produced with David Chazam, (whom I haven't heard of before...) Familiar sounds, but made with new technology. Apparently he has transferred thousands of his old musique-concrete sounds from tape to a sampler, which is now his main tool. He just gave a fun lecture / demonstration at the Justice League in SF last week. Demonstrated tape splicing/ looping, played a little Ondioline (the first synthesizer from France, c. 1949, featured on 'In Sound From Way Out'), and played a few of his old tunes off CD (incl. 'E.V.A.', of course!). For extra entertainment value, he dramatically enacted the music with the help of a small orange fuzzy stuffed elephant. He's the kookiest person I've ever seen. Also incredibly joyful about his music! Everyone in the room was really moved by his overflowing enthusiasm and love. Hope he's around for many years to come... and yeah, 'Eclektronics' is a riot. Absolutely essential for any fans of his earlier material! -Brian ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brian Salter xxxxxxx@xxxx.xxx www.slip.net/~bsalter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
