Upon closer inspection.... Maximum Priest EP 1) Song: Underwater Torch - Much like the last album and EP, live... with heavy emphasis on a old organ... played by a maximum priest? Sounds a bit gothic... qite pretty. Typical heavily reverbed and echoed drums... 2) Decathlon Oxide - Hardened breakbeat track with loads of weird analog squiggles, 303 (?) and abrasive crackles... nice to see he hasn't forgotten how to program. 3) You're Going Down - Gah! Squarepusher gone muziq, I mean muzak. (That wasn't intentional, was it?) Loads of cool slap bass in the middle though... works itself into a nice jam session, but the early cheesy melodies in the beginning and end are a bit intimidating. 4) Cranium Oxide - 29 second track... just some feedback and a sample of someone being tortured.... no wonder he was signed to Nothing.... (so who else here has seen the uncut nin Broken video???) 5) Two Bass Hit (ae mix) - Cool as shit. 6) Circular Flexing (Yee-King mix) - Shifts between live drumming and heavily tweaked 303 squiggles... loads of feedback and reverb.... then a piano comes in at the end over everything... quite nice. 7) Shin Triad (Wagonchrist mix) - Sounds like something Mike Paradinas would do.... not our friend Luke. What happened? This is pretty lame.... Aaron np: Maximum Priest
