And therein lies the rub. Personally I think "Freek Funk" is great, the
title track in particular is excellent IMHO. But I'm a big Luke Slater fan.
Conversely, I'm sure there's something which Arthur thinks is the absolute
bee's knees that I probably think is rubbish.

I just personally have an aversion to polls. Perhaps it's due to my having
lived for over 20 years in Robert "My word is LAW" Hilburn territory (he's
quite fond of Top Ten lists) or something. Polls are a popularity contest
in the most subjective field (other than, say, art appreciation) there is.
Polls attempt to postulate a consensus in a corner of the music world where
there is none. Reading crap like the Village Voice's annual "Pazz and Jop"
poll wherein all these stupid "critics" pat each other on the back about how
they all like the same stuff ('cuz it's the best, presumably) really turned
my stomach back in the day. Call me poll-scarred.

I understand why Chris Hilker gets upset, and I understand why he says "dim
bulbs" to the complainers. But I've never voted in a poll and I never will.
It's just not something I care to participate in. *Shrug*
