Gotta jump in here.... xxxxx@xxxxxx.xx.xx wrote: > >On 16 Oct 98, Andrew Duke Cognition Audiowo wrote > > > >> today on IDM: how do you hide your > >> music-related expenses from your partner?... You do seperate checking, play credit card roulettte or hide part of your cash intake so it isn't so obvious when the supplies are deleted. Also, sell your stuff (but burn a copy to keep) and reinvest THAT money. You still lose some, but hopefully not your marriage. > > > Irene wrote: - > > >This is NOT a joke - believe me - and a topic weighing heavily on > >my conscience, especially since it is "my partner" who is the > >breadwinner around here while Mummy minds this kids - and then I > >go spending his hard-earned cash on music that only *I* like. I'm the *main* bacon herder in the house, but it's still an issue. My lovely wife still enjoys music (not EXACTLY loving everything I play - Pthalocyanine is a bit, uh, past her boundries still), but is more practical than I am. I got married relatively late in life and was quite used to living from week to week, but she just isn't - and she is much wiser here than I. Still....especially with ALL you can grab on the net...! > > > >Hmmmmmmm..... > > > >Must say I totally side with Lance on this one : > > >and Andrew Duke Cognition Audiowo wrote > > > >> My girlfriend has never said "it's me or the music", but if I ever > >> hear that from her I won't be shocked :) Not my situation at all - which makes it worse. Ann (my wife) is so sweet and kind that my own conscience threatens me with ultimatums when I make her queasy about how much money isn't in the bank. > > > >If anybody ever said that to me, I know which way I'd go. In my case, it is admittedly that I am financially irresponsible when it come to buying music. It's like some crazy frigging jones; I actually break into a sweat when I hit my local bin. I love my wife far too much to consider choosing the buying rush over her - and more importantly (I hope!) she'll keep me with my addiction rather than go it alone. Since the GM strike this Summer, though, I've only been to the bins once and have really cut back on my internet spending. Honest.
