First off, for those who haven't been there, it's an 'oxygen bar' that serves all manner of uncooked foods, smart drinks and good old O2 up your nose. The two times I've been there, there was less then 8 people in the place. Paying 12 bucks to sit on an extremely uncomfortable couch with O2 dribbling up your nose is a little silly and has much less effect then smoking that first cigarette of the day. You can get 'flavors' for a few bucks more but they end up leaving you with a fruit flavored drip for a couple of hours, which isn't exactly my idea of fun. The decor is kind of cool in that 'overdone' hollywood way, with the actual oxygen hoses attached to big brass hooka pipes. As for the size of venue, the maximum occupancy is a whopping 49! The actual performance area is a small alcove that holds about 15, and once the three live acts set up plus the extra set of decks that J and I are going to be using, they should be able to fit about 5 heads in there. I see this as being a bit of a problem next week as I was told that the show was LA Weeklies 'pick of the week', which guarantees a ton of 'hollywood hipsters' who don't usually go to shows of this sort. The last thing I went to that was a 'pick of the week' was photek at science and there were about 300 people outside who didn't get in, including myself. So, if you're planning on coming to the show, I'd suggest a seriously early arrival. Other then these few major points, it should be a great show and I'm so excited, my hair is starting to turn purple! word to the mothership, brockout.
