The thing about Fila Brazillia (as a friend of mine put it) is that they have a kind of charm that's very difficult to resist, even for the most jaded members of the music-buying public. On each of their full-length releases they manage to cobble together an endearing collection of tracks that seem to set them in opposition to so many other things, and yet it's exceedingly difficult to explain just what it is that makes them so different. What is it? Someone tell me. They do have a distinctive sound that's recognizable in the remixes they do for other artists, but it's the albums where their peculiar sensibilities and unabashed flights of fancy really come to the fore. What next? Only time will tell.
