I'd like to open this update with a very special thanks to all of 
you who made the FINLEY QUAYE show last friday night the second 
sold out show in our MILES A HEAD series. Keep your eyes and ears 
open for our November show announcement.   

As the seasons change from summer to fall and the temperature begins 
to drop we have taken it upon ourselves to keep things hot, here's 
the run down of what's coming up. 


***THURSDAY OCTOBER 23RD*****************************************

-DEEP CONCENTRATION-

        In the last 10 years the DJ has evolved from mobile juke box 
to a creating force for new styles of music. Giant Step is proud 
to announce The Deep Concentration Night, a party to display the 
talents of some of the strongest rising turntablists. The night  
features turntablists from the OM Records -Deep Concentration 
release, including: 
*Short Kut of the Invisbl Skratch Piklz, 
*Cut Chemist of the Jurassic 5 -one of LA's most exciting new DJs, 
*Q-Burn's Abstract Message - Orlando's most prolific abstract DJ 
known for his mild manner and high energy dance sets, 
*Peanut Butter Wolf -showing his skills through solid yet quirky 
beat creations and 
New Yorks own turntable team Wally & Swingsett - serving down 
tempo and hard hittin' drum 'n' bass. 

The night is set to showcase their fine tuned skills as well 
as to move the dance floor.

        The Groove Academy is proud to present one of the Founding Fathers 
of Funk, Maceo Parker. First and foremost known for his years as M.C., 
band leader and power sax master to the right hand side of James 
Brown, Maceo has gone on to press solo projects with albums "Roots 
Revisited", Mo' Roots", "Life On Planet Groove" and his latest "Southern 
Exposure". He has also laid his soulful winds to bands such as 10,000 
Maniacs, De La Soul, Dee Lite and Rod Stewart. Apart from his recordings 
it is his live performances that have given his international acclaim. 
With a sound as unique as his fingerprints, Maceo wows his fans with 
an unrivaled mix of jazz, classic R&B and hard driving funk grooves.
