I was just recently given a promo of that CD. Not bad. Very commercial
sounding. Lots of strings. If you are into commercialized idm (this is not
always a bad thing) check out the following:

--Air "Moon Safari" --Very cheesey at times, very good at times.
Melodic, memorable passages, noteably "All I need" and "La Femme D'argent.
Lots of vocorder stuff.

--Baxter (Self Titled debut) --Heard this one over Tower's P.A., and
it caught my attention! It's Plaid meets 80's gothic. Depressing minor key
female vocals over breakbeat style idm. The whole disc will bore you, but
track 1, "Television" is worth the 12 bucks.

--BT "Escm" --This one's old but worth mentioning. It's Tangerine
Dream ish sounding with some vocals. Tuff to describe. Lots o' strings.
Cheesey at times, but not mainstream sounding cheese. "Remember," despite
it's short guitar riffs, is still the best pop - sounding dance tune I've
heard in years. Very well produced. The CD's new age ish sound will probably
turn most list folk off, but its good for what it is.

---Astralasia "White Bird" Sounds like Opus III, even has an opus III
cover (I Talk to the Wind) ((Not as good as the original) But "One Fine Day"
is excellent. A good example of melodic, ambient idm with effective vocals.
Whoever I play it for, likes it. Parts of the CD really suck, but the parts
that are good are well worth it.

---Adam F "Colours" Mainstream Drum and Bass. Mainstream because of
tracks like "The Tree Knows Everything" with the chick from EBTG on there, and
because if the atmospheric arpeggios, and Bob James sampling of "Circles"
(amazing) And yet strikingly original with "Metropolis" with its hard, cold,
metallic rhythm. The best of the list for total satisfaction.

Oh, and by the way, since I'm on the subject, I bought my little
sister the new Bjork CD for Christmas. I listened to the first track only and
was so impressed by it I read the liner notes. Holy Shit. So this is what
Mark Bell (that is his name, right(CD's not in front of me)) from LFO's been
doing. He's been writing and producing Bjork's stuff. I have not had the
chance to sample the rest of the CD yet. Is it as good as that first
track???? And forgive me for not knowing, but has LFO done anything since
"Advance?" I know this Bjork thing is probably old news to most of you but I
thought I'd mention it anyhow. Thanx.
